He is Research Director at the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), Greece, and head of the “Quantum light and Technologies” and “Attosecond science and technology” activities of FORTH-IESL. He is also Scientific Advisor of secondary sources at Extreme Light Infrastructure-Attosecond Light Pulse Source (ELI-ALPS), Szeged, Hungary.

His research interest is in the field of atomic molecular and optical (AMO) physics, with emphasis in strong laser-field physics, high harmonic generation, attosecond science and quantum optics. He conducted pioneering research in Extreme field quantum optics and quantum light engineering, attosecond science and non-linear optics. A large part of his work has been published in high visibility scientific journals.
